N. Korea not a terrorist country - Is this for real?

Today, I was shocked to see that North Korea was put down from its status as a terrorist country by the United States government. The strange fact about this is, according to what I’ve seen on television and about what I see on the Asahi Shinbun seems to be contradictory (well, not maybe so at this point).

The fact is, I saw North Korea as being stated as a terrorist country by United States on television a couple of months ago, and now, all of a sudden, on October 11th, they say that the country is not a terrorist country. Is this true because Kim Jon II is sick (or even dead at this point).

The fact that Secretary of State Rice said around October 11th 8AM (according to Asahi Shinbun Pg.4 of October 15th) that it is only a matter of a form, then signs the document that North Korea is not a terrorist country, at around 8:30AM is very questionable. Is this a sign that United States is actually not saying the truth about its current view of North Korea’s status?

I remember the fact that in 2006, Tepodon missiles were fired into the Sea of Japan(well, its main target probably was not where it was intended to fall, but possibly Tokyo), and at that time, I was quite horrified by the news. I was at Yotsuya at that time, and I was hoping for the best that it will not hit Japan. If I remember correctly, I remember there was one in June and one in September of 2006.

This is purely political, and necessary for the North Korean psyche. There is no way they will cooperate, unless they are given equal footing. So while nothing has changed, it has given them the face they feel like they deserve in the international community, and thus, will allow them to meet the terms that they are given.

I agree..The people need to feel welcomed internationally to risk cooperation, they have to have someone to fall back on.

It’s almost as though the US is trying to relieve some of the pressure in Asia by doing this.
I don’t completely buy it.
